Place flowers on our cross!

On Easter Sunday as you come to worship with us, please consider bringing flowers, perhaps from your garden, to place on the cross that will be in our lawn on the corner of Fourth St. and L St., as we celebrate and rejoice His resurrection on this magnificent day!

Holy Week: A Spiritual Journey to Easter

eastera

Easter Sunday is such a magnificent day. What a glorious time it is as we recognize God's promise of new life through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter Sunday can become even more powerful for us when we attend all the Holy Week worship services. Holy Week is a spiritual journey that leads us to Easter. It is a journey that goes from excitement, through uncertainty, betrayal, denial, deep sorrow, despair, and culminates in the ultimate joy of the resurrection.

Palm Sunday, April 9th, 8:30 am chapel, 10:00 am sanctuary
The Holy Week journey begins on Palm Sunday. On this day, we joyfully remember the triumphal entry into Jerusalem and remember Jesus humbly riding on a donkey as palm branches are laid before him. During this service, we experience the excitement through a procession of palm branches, brightly colored scarves, and the sound of vibrant, percussive Hosanna will be led by our children’s JAM and Sanctuary Choir!

Maundy Thursday, April 13th 7:00 pm service, Sanctuary
On Maundy Thursday, we experience the Last Supper between Jesus and his disciples.During this service, our journey takes a turn toward uncertainty and fear as we remember Judas' betrayal, Peter's denial, and Jesus' arrest. Daniel Baldwin’s Landscapes will be offered by Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn and Piano in the spirit of meditation.

Good Friday, April 14th at 7:00pm service, Sanctuary (childcare provided)
Good Friday is a dark and mournful point in our journey through Holy Week.  During this service, we remember the day that Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried. This is a Tenebrae Service (Service of Shadows) in which we immerse ourselves in the darkness that surrounded Jesus in his last hours. The shadows of Good Friday give depth to the brightness of Easter, and in this service remember Jesus' journey to the cross through a series of readings and hymns, music from individuals and pieces offered by our Sanctuary Choir and Celebration Chimes.

Labyrinth Walk following the service. The choir will be present outside in the courtyard providing music.

Easter Sunday, April 16th: Traditional services, 9:00 & 11:00 am sanctuary
Christ is risen...he is risen indeed! The glory of this day is much more meaningful having walked with Jesus through all the emotions of Holy Week. Our voices joyfully join in the celebratory songs of resurrection with choir, bells, piano, instruments and organ. The Holy Week journey will strengthen and deepen your relationship with God through Jesus Christ as we walk in the footsteps of his last seven days.

The Holy Week journey will strengthen and deepen your relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The Worship Team would like to invite each of you to share in this experience and to walk in Jesus' footsteps through the journey of Holy Week.
